Sonrisa Arts is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination.

The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative of all sections of society and our customers, and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. 

Sonrisa Arts CIC, in providing goods and/or services and/or facilities, is also committed against unlawful discrimination of customers or the public. 

ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT

We are a small organisation with a desire to work sustainably so that we can help to protect the environment for the future generations. We acknowledge that our operations impact the environment and are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our work.

We pledge to:

  • Ask those working with us to reuse, recycle & consider environmental responsibility for their own roles and responsibilities. 

  • For office-based work, choose online meetings where possible, consider our use of electricity/gas/water eg. switch off lights, use rechargeable devices, minimise paper usage by only printing where necessary.

  • Aim to eliminate single use plastic

  • For the use of set, props, costumes, we will ensure that 50% of materials are from reused or recycled sources, 65% of materials has a future life through storage or re-use, avoid harmful & unsustainable materials, planning co-ordinated & minimal deliveries with our creative team.

  • Use sustainable light and sound technical systems for our touring shows

  • Where possible use digital marketing in place of hard copy, working with venues and partners  Plan Midlands based centrally networked rehearsal locations with good public transport and condense rehearsal periods to minimise travel

  • Encourage artists, creatives, participants and audiences to use public transport or carshare

  • Prioritise local recruitment 

  • Plan tour and workshop/project schedules to minimise distances travelled. 

  • Prioritise community outreach workshops and projects in Coventry and Warwickshire

 

When we are touring productions we will monitor:

  • The use of materials using a materials inventory

  • Artists & participants public transport v’s car use, using a carbon calculator

  • The sustainable running of technical systems 

  • The reduction of journeys & deliveries

 

We are committed to working with our Board of Directors and freelance artists, creatives and producers to implement and monitor our environmental policy so that as our organisation grows we are able to effectively increase our aims and objectives for sustainability.

Our environmental action plan will be reviewed and updated annually.
